1. About FamiNest Kids

FamiNest Kids is the companion app for FamiNest. It is installed on a child's device by a parent or guardian and paired with the parent's FamiNest account using a temporary pairing code. Once paired, FamiNest Kids applies the parental-control rules set by the parent, such as app time limits, schedules, app blocking, and family-safety features. The child device does not require a separate login account.

2. Information We Collect

To provide parental-control and family-safety features, FamiNest Kids may collect the following categories of information from the child device:

  • Device information: device ID, device name, manufacturer, model, brand, OS version, SDK version, app version, and pairing status.
  • App and usage data: installed applications, app identifiers, the currently active (foreground) app, app usage time, block status, schedules, and screen-time settings.
  • Location information: approximate and precise device location, collected only while the app is active (foreground), used to provide family-safety location features to the linked parent. FamiNest Kids does not collect location in the background when the app is closed.
  • Commands and operational logs: parental-control commands received, acknowledgement status, timestamps, and diagnostic logs.
  • Realtime status data: connection state, device activity relevant to service functionality, and service heartbeat or command-processing state.

3. Accessibility Service (AccessibilityService API)

FamiNest Kids uses Android's Accessibility Service to deliver its core parental-control features. With consent obtained through an in-app prominent disclosure before the service is enabled, the Accessibility Service is used to:

  • Detect which app is currently open so the app can enforce the time limits and schedules set by the parent.
  • Block or close apps the parent has restricted and display the FamiNest blocking screen over them.
  • Help prevent the child from bypassing or removing parental controls.
Screen content accessed through the Accessibility Service is processed only on the device to enforce parental controls. It is not sold and is not shared with third parties for advertising. Only the active app name and usage time are sent to the linked parent's FamiNest account so that limits and activity reports can work.

4. Location Information

FamiNest Kids collects the device's location only while the app is active (foreground) to provide family-safety features such as showing the device's location to the linked parent. The app does not request or use background location and does not collect location when it is closed. Location is shared only with the parent who supervises the device through their FamiNest account, and is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising.

5. Other Permissions

FamiNest Kids may request additional Android permissions required for parental-control functionality, including usage access, display over other apps (overlay), notification access, device administrator, foreground-service operation, and battery-optimization exclusion. Each permission is used only to provide the supervision features the parent has enabled. Certain features may not work properly unless these permissions are granted.

6. How We Use Information

  • To pair and identify the child device with the parent's account.
  • To enforce app time limits, schedules, and app restrictions set by the parent.
  • To provide app-usage and activity reports to the linked parent.
  • To provide family-safety location features to the linked parent.
  • To maintain service security, integrity, reliability, and to troubleshoot errors.

7. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information and do not use Accessibility or location data for advertising. Information from the child device is shared only with the linked parent's FamiNest account and with service providers and infrastructure partners (such as Google Cloud / Firebase) that help us operate FamiNest, or as required by law.

8. Data Storage and Retention

We use cloud infrastructure and related Google Cloud / Firebase services to store and process the data required to operate FamiNest. We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations, and maintain operational records. Pairing codes and temporary operational data may expire or be deleted automatically.

9. Parental Consent and Children's Privacy

FamiNest Kids is intended to be installed by a parent or guardian on a device used by their own child, for lawful family supervision. By installing and pairing the app, the parent or guardian confirms they have the authority and any required consent to supervise the child device. Parents can stop data collection at any time by unpairing the device, disabling permissions, or uninstalling the app.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. However, no system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. International Data Processing

Information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, depending on the location of our service providers and infrastructure, subject to applicable safeguards.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of FamiNest Kids after an update means you accept the revised Privacy Policy, to the extent permitted by law.
